Knif Audio Vari-Mu Compressor (Chartmakers Edition)

The first version of Knif Audio's vari mu compressor was designed with the famous mastering house Chartmakers in Helsinki, Finland. This was the very prototype model, a versatile dual-mono mastering compressor.

This Knif Vari Mu “Chartmakers Edition” has been completely rebuilt by Knif Audio.

Switches, meters, frame and transformers are original, everything else is new. Printed circuit boards are new, power supply and signal path components are new (except transformers), and the topology has been updated where necessary to correspond to higher standards than original. All tubes are new and the unit has been carefully measured and calibrated. Note that depending on impedances of preceeding and following gear in signal path the unit may have 0-2 dB extra gain.

It offers a full range of control over the input, threshold, ratio, both attack and release. It can be used in mono mode or linked for a two-track compression.

This is a type of tube compressor that does not offer a huge larger than life sound, instead it provides a wide, transparent compression with lots of details, that is so admired by the mastering engineers.

This compressor is in excellent visual and working condition. Internal PSU works on both 110V and 220V regions, EU power cord is included.

US and EU parcels ship via UPS, ETA 1-7 working days from pickup day zero. That also applies to most locations worldwide.

All shipments are fully insured.

Bigger shipments requiring pallets or custom made crates ship to US, CA, JP, CN, AU and other outside of EU locations via DHL Air Freight, ETA is normally approx. 7-14 working days from pickup day zero.

Big shipments inside EU ship via different freight companies, recently mostly via ACE Logistics. Freight forwarders can use different courier companies for deliveries to final destinations.

Palletising and crating time can vary depending on the size of the shipment and packaging queue. We pack all our shipments with great care.
