AKG C24 Stereo Tube Microphone

As rare as a unicorn, the AKG C24 holds its rightful place in the legendary microphone pantheon.

The C24 is a stereo condenser microphone that was created on the legendary design of the C12, offering the same outstanding sonic qualities while having smoother top end, a better extended midrange and bottom and adding true stereo capability. It features two closely aligned microphone systems, each with its own output and individual preamplifier, making it the best mic for room and drum overhead, any other stereo or m/s use.

Both systems provide nine remotely switchable polar patterns: omni, cardioid, figure-8, plus six intermediate positions, which can be controlled independently during recording. The upper capsule assembly can be rotated 180° and tilted in two positions, enabling both XY and MS stereo configurations.

The C 24 maintains constant operating voltages regardless of cable length thanks to its dedicated power supply.

This stunning C24 has been meticulously maintained and comes with its original vintage power supply and original vintage polar pattern switch, both in excellent condition.

A rare example of exceptional quality, this unit has seen very low use, stored in a climate-controlled environment, and serviced by an experienced technician. The microphone comes from the mic locker of a three-time Grammy Award winner engineer Mark Linett (Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, Red Hot Chili Peppers).

Both capsules are original brass CK12s, fully tested and inspected. The upper capsule assembly rotates smoothly with proper resistance—no looseness or wobble. Polar pattern switches and cables are also in excellent condition.

Includes the original microphone cable and connector, plus a newer custom-built polar pattern cable designed to improve performance and reliability. The microphone comes with a NOS GE JG-6072 (1956) tube and one matched JJ 12AY7 tube.

The PSU is switchable between 115/220V, currently set to work on 220V.
