The HUM Audio N-Matrix is a mastering insert matrix built for engineers who want serious flexibility without giving up the feel and clarity of a pure analog path. It takes the passive insert matrix concept from the N-Trophy console and expands it into a dedicated processor that is elegant, intuitive, and made for high-end mastering work.
Hand-built in Poland, the N-Matrix is designed around transparency, ease of use, and uncompromising sound quality. It offers a fully balanced, all-discrete analog signal path with passive, lossless switching via premium gold-contact relays, delivering clean operation no matter how complex your routing gets.
At its core is a six-slot stereo insert chain, with the option to split the main path into two independent three-slot sub-chains, A and B. This opens up a wide range of mastering workflows, including linear and parallel processing, chain splitting, and stem summing. Two independent stereo inputs and outputs allow even greater flexibility, including summing two stereo stems through parallel chains.
With very high headroom, wide bandwidth, and exceptionally low noise thanks to its +/-24V internal power rails, the N-Matrix stays transparent in every mode. Its summing stage is based on the same custom discrete op-amps developed for HUM Audio’s acclaimed LAAL limiter, giving it the precision and musicality expected from the brand’s flagship designs.
