Knif Aski is a standalone phono preamplifier designed for both moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges, offering exceptional sonic performance and adaptability for demanding vinyl playback systems.
At the core of both input modes is a hybrid op-amp topology, featuring a discrete JFET cascade front end followed by the high-performance OPA828 IC. For MC inputs, four parallel LSK389 JFETs are employed to achieve ultra-low noise performance. The JFET input also provides exceptionally low non-linearity in input capacitance: a critical factor for accurate MM cartridge reproduction.
Key features include:
• Precision RIAA equalization
• Multiple cartridge loading options for MM and MC
• Switchable 20 Hz high-pass filter
• Wide range of gain adjustments
• MM / MC inputs
• Wide range of cartridge loading options
• Selectable high-pass filter
• Hybrid front end topology with discrete cascode JFET input devices
• External power supply
Power can be supplied via an external PSU or directly from the auxiliary output of the Knif Mastering Controller’s power supply.
With extreme accuracy, massive headroom, inaudible distortion, and exceptionally low self-noise, the Knif Aski sets a new standard for reference-grade phono amplification.
