Neumann KM56 Switchable Tube Microphone # 2237

The Telefunken / Neumann KM 56 Miniature Multipattern Tube Microphone is a small-diaphragm condenser microphone with multiple directional patterns (omni, cardioid, and figure-8).

It features a dual-sided, small diaphragm capsule skinned with nickel, as well as a tube amplifier circuit. The KM 56 is excellent for all-around applications, delivering a bright and clear sound on pianos, overheads, guitars, rooms, strings, and more. It is perfect for capturing a wide range of audio sources with warmth and detail.

This system has been in service at Drefahl on December 2025.

It is modified to use NOS Russian Military tube 6S6B-V, original capsule, that can be converted to use 701 Tube.

It has also new Drefahl DN221 PSU adjusted to tube 6S6B-V only and new Sommer Cable.
It includes the original Neumann box.
The head is slightly angled but work perfectly well.

Microphone holder not included.

Sound of the mic is really close the to AC 701. Drefahl can change the PSU to work with AC701 tube and make the service back to AC701 use if you have it.

Bigger shipments requiring pallets or custom made crates ship to US, CA, JP, CN, AU and other outside of EU locations via DHL Air Freight, ETA is normally approx. 7-14 working days from pickup day zero.

Big shipments inside EU ship via different freight companies, recently mostly via ACE Logistics. Freight forwarders can use different courier companies for deliveries to final destinations.

Palletising and crating time can vary depending on the size of the shipment and packaging queue. We pack all our shipments with great care.
