The Studer B67 is a legendary ¼-inch 2-track stereo tape recorder, well known for its precision engineering and analog warmth. Originally introduced in the 70s and widely used throughout the ’80s, it became a studio staple for professional mastering, broadcast archiving, and high-fidelity recording.
Designed as a 19” rackmount unit, the B67 combines portability with solid construction, weighing in at approximately 35 kg. Its modular internal design allows for easy servicing and component upgrades.
The tape transport is particularly robust, ensuring stable tape tension and smooth handling even with large 10.5-inch metal reels. Tape speeds include 15, 7.5, and 3.75 ips (38.1, 19.05, and 9.5 cm/sec.), with CCIR equalization for accurate playback. The machine uses butterfly heads for optimized contact and fidelity, and features a digital timer display with reset and manual pause controls.
The B67 uses balanced XLR inputs and outputs. It supports reel formats up to CINE (EIA) / Trident, and can spool a full 760 meters of tape in about 145 seconds.
PSU works on 110-240V, depending on the fuse installed. Currently set up to work on 240V. EU power cord included.
